Q: What are the differences between k-cups and coffee pods?
A: The differences are pretty vast, but the quality can be great with both. K-cups are (or were, patent expired) manufactured by a company called Keurig. Essentially, k-cups are a specially designed plastic container with ground beans and a filter inside. When placed in the brewer, it punctures the bottom and top of the container and forces hot water through, brewing your coffee. With pods, a very simple design, they somewhat resemble tea bags. In single serve pod brewers the hot water is basically just run through the filters – and voila! Coffee.
