Today we have launched our Coffeepods.com property. The site is managed by a gourmet coffee roaster who has been in the coffee business for over 60 years. Roots that started as Green Coffee importers, which expanded into Coffee Processing at orgins such as Brazil, Costa Rica, and Indonesia, and Finally a gourmet coffee roaster in the USA. Our roots as both a processor from origin and a gourmet coffee roaster allow us to select the finest beans from our own warehouses or purchasing team at each specific origin. We are excited about our Coffee Pods discussion board as we’ve been developing gourmet coffee pods for several years now, among the first Coffee Roasters to develop coffee pods.

The year has past, and many people are now use to consuming coffee through pod machines. Coffee pods are a very quick and efficient way to prepare coffee. The right single cup brewer makes the experience an enjoyable one. To summarize we recommend the Bunn Single Cup brewer, the newer models are very efficient, warm quickly, make the right amount of coffee (water cup size) and make a great cup at the right temperatures. Paying the $190 range trully is worth wile, or you’ll regret using those lower cost units. Senseo is a good machine as well, however makes a short cup at 4-5oz not ideal for the US market.

Single Cup Exploration Pt.1

Before we begin to explore the differences of each type of Single Cup coffee unit, it’s important to understand how they differ at the core.Â For many years many different types of Single Cup brewing system have come around, some take coffee in bulk then grind and brew coffee by the cup, others require a proprietary coffee packet to brew a single cup.Â Among the most popular in the commercial business environment in the USA Keurig became very popular in the office setting along with Flavia.Â During this time as well Sarah Lee along with Philips had developed a home brewer in Europe that used a pod coffee for brewing single cups, it became wildly popular in Europe and a few years later was introduced in the USA with great clamor.Â Now comes the question of how they differ.Â As Keurig and Flavio became popular in the USA only a handful of roasters were allowed to develop coffee in their proprietary packet to brew a single cup, Flavia actually only had their own coffee type.Â After a few years the Coffee Pod became the product that would be introduced that would have no proprietary linkage to any coffee roaster, all types of machines would use the coffee pod and all types of roasters would be able to develop their coffee blends in pods as well thus serving an open market.Â Basically, Coffee Pods single cup coffee just like Keurig, Flavia, Tassimo, Nespresso, etc, however Coffee Pod Brewers have no Exclusive coffee that you are forced to purchase.Â This gives way for many options of coffee for you to try and consume as well as finding better priced high quality coffee since you aren’t forced to consume one type of coffee from a specific company.Â I hope this give some clarify on the big difference between each of these units and types of pods/packets.Â In the next post we will discuss how they each differ in detail, from brewing mechanism to brew quality.

How single cup coffee brewers work…

First, you need to buy a single-serve coffee making machine. Among the best units are Bunn Mycafe and Krups unit.

And then you buy coffee pods that work with your Pod brewer.

Brewing the coffee is easy. You simply insert the coffee pod in the machine, add water to the reservoir, and press one button.

In a minute or so you have a fresh brewed cup of coffee, with no messy filters to throw away.

Is a single cup coffee brewer right for you?

If you just want to grab a single cup of coffee from time to time, one of these new machines may be exactly what you want.

Or if you like gourmet coffee, but are always in too much of a hurry to grind beans and make a full pot.

Or if you like the idea of making coffee with no mess or cleanup.

Two points to consider, before you buyâ€¦

For all their convenience, single cup coffee brewers have two disadvantages right now.

1. You will always be limited in your choice of coffees. When you grind your own beans, you have a choice of hundreds of coffees, from stores and online, But with a one cup brewer, you are limited by the number of coffees they choose to offer in the pod format.

2. Each cup of coffee will cost you more. They cost apx. 30-40 cents a cup, but you do get a great cup of coffee that usually is much better tasting than a standard home brewer.

Choose according to your tastes and lifestyleâ€¦

If you have a real passion for trying different coffees, you might be better off sticking with a traditional coffee maker and grinding your own beans. However each day more and more coffee pod selections are being developed.

But if you are happy with a more limited choice of gourmet coffees, and you like the convenience of using pods, get yourself a single cup coffee maker.
